I'm on ICH10R as well, and I can't install anything beyond 14.5.2.1088. It seems it only provides/allows AHCI drivers and no RAID drivers. 14.6 and above keep freezing up on boot. My configuration is RAID 0. And here's the funny part, my motherboard is an EVGA X58 E760 Classified with an upgraded Intel RAID Option ROM of 14.6.1.2340. And it still won't work. So that means they simply cut off driver support at the chipset level- not the option ROM level.
I'm not entirely sure why they would do that. Graphics card companies have unified chipset/GPU drivers. Why would you blow people's OS's out the water simply because you don't feel like incorporating older chipsets. That makes no sense, even for Intel- who has unified drivers for every other chipset they release that isn't RAID related.
I don't know what their problem is, but it looks like I'll be stuck at 14.5.2.1088 for awhile, even though they removed the download from their site. Here is another site that carries their older drivers, since Intel blows in that regard.
