Is the recovery volume set as Continuous or On Request mode?
It might also be related to the amount of free space.
Another option would be accessing the Intel® RAID option ROM by pressing Ctrl + I during system POST and reset the disks to non-RAID. The data will stay as long as this is a RAID 1 or a fully synchronized recovery volume; remember there is a Continuous and On Request mode. The data on RAID 0 will be lost after resetting to non-RAID so a back up is always needed.
