Hi Pidgeon, I recommend you uninstalling the USB 3.0 driver from Programs and Features, restart your computer, and install it from this link or from the computer manufacturer’s website. Additionally, you can try updating the system BIOS and the firmware of the storage box or the drive itself.
I am not able to recommend any hub model or similar device since we do not have a list of tested devices.
As an extra troubleshooting step I suggest you testing the device in the USB 2.0 port.
